EDGE centre opens in Rabat with Cisco: what it means for entrepreneurs and AI in Morocco
The International University of Rabat has opened an innovation and incubation hub for AI and cybersecurity, with training through Cisco Networking Academy.
According to Morocco’s MAP news agency, the International University of Rabat celebrated the opening of the EDGE centre on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The new innovation and incubation hub aims to support academic research, build digital skills and encourage new use cases in AI and cybersecurity.
Run by the university, it uses Cisco technology for networking, security, collaboration and computing, and offers training through Cisco Networking Academy. The announcement describes it as the first initiative in Morocco backed by Cisco’s global programme for accelerating countries’ digital transformation. The university is also studying a second phase that could add more infrastructure dedicated to AI.
University president Noureddine Mouaddib says the goal is to help students and researchers turn their ideas into marketable solutions and to strengthen links between academia and industry.
What it means for you
The announcement mainly mentions students and researchers and doesn’t say whether the centre is open to outside entrepreneurs. The signal is still clear: AI skills are becoming a priority in Morocco, and you can start now.
- Ask directly: contact the university about its training and incubation conditions, especially if your project involves AI or cybersecurity.
- Sum up your idea on one page: use an AI assistant to describe the problem you solve, your target customer and a practical use case, so you are ready for any incubation opportunity.
- Start with security basics: turn on two-step verification for your business accounts and use a different password for each service.
